Parking and Transportation Services is working to minimize the impact of the multiple construction projects in process on the University of Arizona campus. The following facts and the AHSC area maps provide the most up-to-date information.
Parking Lost During 2003-04
- A total of 728 parking spaces will be lost during the school year.
- The Institute Biological Science Building (IBSB) and Medical Research Projects will remove 146 Zone 1 spaces beginning in mid September 2003.
- The Drachman Hall Building Project will remove 508 Zone 1 spaces beginning January 2004.
Parking Gained During 2003-04
- The 2012 lot will expand from 34 spaces to approximately 375 spaces, and change to Zone 1 parking.
- 110 parking spaces will be added to existing Zone 1 parking lots west of Cherry Avenue.
- A 400 space park and ride lot has been acquired on Plumer south of Broadway. There will be shuttle service approximately every 11 minutes from this lot to the AHSC campus.
New CatTran Shuttle Service to AHSC
- Cat Tran is starting a new Purple Route that will provide free shuttle service from the AHS Library -- to the Bio West Science. There will be two shuttles operating approximately 14 minutes apart.
- Other shuttle routes have been updated to increase their efficiencies and aid in moving people around campus.
Street Impacts
- During construction sections of Mabel and Warren will be closed to traffic.
- Parking will be removed along portions of Helen and Martin to facilitate construction traffic and pedestrian movement.
